Inside the GA-RX1: engineering a sub-4-minute intercept
How the GA-RX1 climbs to 5,000 m in 3.5 minutes and what that means for countering saturation drone attacks.
Saturation attacks by loitering munitions and cruise missiles compress the window defenders have to respond. The GA-RX1 was built around one number: time to altitude.
Climb performance
At a climb rate of 25 m/s, the GA-RX1 reaches 5,000 m in 3.5 minutes — fast enough to intercept threats like Shahed-136, Orlan, and Zala before they reach protected airspace.
Airframe and propulsion
The aerodynamic profile trades range for acceleration, topping out at 400 km/h with a service ceiling of 6,000 m — enough envelope to cover the altitudes most small and medium UAV threats fly at.
What this means operationally
Faster time-to-intercept lowers the number of interceptors needed per incoming wave, which is the real cost driver in sustained counter-drone operations.
